Pekon Rune means woman talented in language, Shipibo-Konibo, its name in Spanish is Wilma Maynas, was born in the Indigenous Community of Panaillo, Lower Ucayali, the September 7, 1964. Since she was a child she learned to paint with natural pigments obtained from the bark of mahogany, almond, and guava. Wilma is also a skilled ceramist, embroidery and muralist, known as “Personality Worthy of the Culture” in 2020, prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Peru.
Wilma es una activa difusora de su cultura ancestral Shipibo-Konibo, ha participado de diversos proyectos de investigación y promoción cultural. En Setiembre del 2022 fue invitada por la Galería de Arte Power Plant en Toronto, Canadá, para pintar un gran mural estilo Shipibo-Konibo también ha expuesto su obra en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Quito, Ecuador, difundiendo así la diversidad étnico y cultural del Perú. La experiencia de viajar hace que las personas sientan la riqueza de la vida.

Currently Wilma resides in the Community of Indigenous Shipibo-Konibo of Cantagallo, located in the Rímac district of Lima, Peru, a place where we receive and share his knowledge about the Peruvian Amazon and the ancestral art Shipibo-Konibo.
